About Us:

Charity Statement: For the relief of poverty, hardship and distress in accordance with Christian principles amongst the disabled people of Romania.

Our aim is to provide a rehabilitation centre near Constanta for disabled Romanian people complete with accommodation for visiting clinicians from abroad to stay in whilst they participate in the treatment of patients and the education of local staff. Once constructed the centre will provide prostheses and orthoses for those unfortunate individuals who have not received any treatment for their disabilities. It is our intention to train local staff to manufacture the devices and to work in association with the new School of Prosthetics that has been set up in Bucharest. We would hope to be able to offer placements for the students in training.

Providing artificial legs and arms. At present in Romania there is very little provision  for the disabled. The few devices provided have to be paid for privately and these tend to be beyond the means of ordinary people and are often poor quality or ill-fitting.

Providing orthotic appliances such as spinal braces, Orthopaedic footwear, splints etc. It is vital that children with scoliosis receive immediate spinal bracing. It is a race against time because, after adolescence, the bones of the body reach full maturity and there is no possibility of rectifying the structural deformities any more.

Our long term goal is to extend the service we offer to include:

  • The provision of disability aids such as wheelchairs and walking aids.
  • Advice on the care of the diabetic foot.
  • Physiotherapy.
  • Occupational therapy.
  • Orbital prosthetics.
  • It is envisaged that at some stage we would be able to provide a basic General practitioner medical and dental service using the services of a local doctor and dentist by providing clinical facilities and equipment.
